You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” (GFE) that explains how much your psychological care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients an estimate of the bill for medical services when patients: (1) don’t have insurance or (2) have insurance, but don’t intend on using their insurance such as for reimbursement for out-of-network services rendered. I try my best to provide a GFE before we first start our work together or I may give you one during our ongoing relationship. You can also ask me for a GFE before you ever schedule an appointment with me or at any time during our work together. Feel free to ask me about your right to a GFE. You may also get more information about your right to a GFE by visiting www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
